New Pod Day: Coach Ryan Bolton on Metabolic Efficiency

video preview

Ryan Bolton is an Olympian, competing at the first Olympic Triathlon in 2000, and he is also a long course champ, winning Ironman Lake Placid in 2002. He coaches America’s top-ranked short-course triathlete, John Reed, and coaches or has coached Olympic Morgan Pearson, triathlon legend Ben Hoffman, recent star Sam Long, and many, many others.

On the show, Ryan and I talk about a huge range of topics, including artificial intelligence (AI) in the coaching space, why “metabolic efficiency” is the same thing as simply getting fit, and what it means to focus on “$100,000 wins” instead of “$500 wins.”

If you want to learn what it's like to coach at the highest levels, this is an episode you won't want to miss. You can watch the video, linked above, or listen to the podcast on Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.

You can find Ryan at https://boltonendurance.com/ and on his social media accounts: @coachryanbolton and @boltonendurance. You can (and should!) listen to my interview with Ben Hoffman, whom Ryan Coached for most of Ben’s career.

Back at the end of February I got a phone call from the people at LOGE Bend, where campers have stayed the last three years. I figured they were simply calling to get the second part of my deposit.

"Chris, we're so sorry to tell you this, but we're closing forever on February 1."

[Insert record scratch sound here]

Oohhhhhhkaaaayyyyyyy...time for another reliable small business scramble moments, but I actually think we came out ahead.

We have three big vacation houses booked in the Tetherow neighborhood of Bend, and going back to houses allows us flexibility in terms of getting you campers coffee or tea first thing in the morning (crucial when you're at camp), giving you the choice if you want to attend meals with us (you should!) or do some cooking on your own.

Best part?

You get full access to the resort's amenities, such as the pool, sauna, hot tub, and everything else they have to offer.

If you want to learn more about camp, you can head here, OR you can simply download the 10-page guide to camp to learn everything about your amazing five days training in Central Oregon.

And you can download it directly right here: Camp PDF.pdf

But don't wait—we've only got four spots left.
